Arcturus is the fourth brightest star in the night sky. It has a similar mass to our own sun but is 25 times its size and 170 times brighter. It's exhausted all of its hydrogen core and has expanded into its red giant phase fusing helium. Arcturus was known as the "Star of Joy" to prehistoric Polynesian navigators and was a critical point of navigation.
