Miaplacidus
Miaplacidus is the second-brightest star in the southern constellation of Carina, second to Canopus. The stars name is entirely made up, first appearing on an 1856 star map. Recently an astronomer William Higgins surmised that the name Miaplacidus is apparently a bilingual combination of Arabic miyāh for 'waters' and Latin placidus for 'placid'. Miaplacidus is an evolved giant star that has exhausted the hydrogen at its core and has expanded.
