Procyon is one of the brightest stars in our night sky, and on the list of Navigational Stars its the third closest to us behind Sirius and Rigil Kentaurus. Procyon is a late-stage main sequence star, as it's evolving away from the main sequence and into its larger, cooler lifecycle. It's also a binary system whose companion star is, on average, about as far away as than the distance between Uranus and the Sun.
