Rigel, Beta Orionis, is a B-type blue supergiant located 848 light years away in the Orion constellation.
It shines at 12100K temperature and holds a declination at S 08°. Rigel is a quadruple star system that has an apparent magnitude of 0.12 in the night sky, and is often considered the most luminous star within 1,000 light-years of the Sun.
Rigel also comes in a large version and a small version of the same mosaic star.
